Scaling &
Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is a two-step process that we typically suggest for patients who are experiencing mild to serious gum disease symptoms. During the first part of the treatment, Dr. Wolfe will clear all plaque and tartar from the surface of your teeth to help manage bacteria accumulation. Afterward, we’ll smooth out the roots of your teeth to give your gums a chance to healthily reattach to them. This will prevent worsening symptoms and can even aid in the reversal of the condition.

Periodontal Maintenance

After a patient has undergone treatment for gum disease, they will be put on a periodontal maintenance program to prevent the condition from coming back. This will involve visiting our office every three to four months for professional cleanings that focus on keeping the roots of the teeth free of tartar and bacteria that could lead to infection. These more frequent visits will also allow our team to catch any trouble spots early so they can be taken care of before unpleasant symptoms can develop.
